Douglas Elliman, one of the largest independent residential real estate brokerages in the U.S., and Knight Frank, the leading independent global property consultancy, headquartered in London, are celebrating September 23rd as the 15th anniversary of a partnership that has united more than 20,000 agents in luxury markets spanning more than 60 countries across six continents.
With offices in world capitals from Los Angeles, Miami, New York and London to Paris, Dubai, Singapore and Sydney, the Douglas Elliman|Knight Frank alliance is rooted in a shared commitment to provide worldwide service that is locally expert and globally connected.
Prior to formalizing their partnership in 2009, the two firms collaborated frequently to leverage combined expertise dating back more than a century (Knight Frank & Rutley was founded in 1896; Douglas Elliman was founded in 1911). In his landmark 1981 book Men of Property: The Very Wealthy in Britain Since the Industrial Revolution, the British historian William D. Rubinstein recounts the creation of New Devonshire House, in Piccadilly, as “the first recorded co-operation between Knight Frank & Rutley and the New York estate agents Douglas Elliman.”
“Our work together actually began more than a century ago,” said Howard M. Lorber, Executive Chairman of Douglas Elliman. “Since then we have both evolved tremendously.”
“I firmly believe that Douglas Elliman and Knight Frank connect the globe better than anyone else in our industry,” Paddy Dring, Partner and Global Head of Prime Sales, Knight Frank.
“The world has changed, and so have we,” said Scott Durkin, President and Chief Executive Officer of Douglas Elliman Realty. “As our clients embrace global markets, so do we.”
“As more European and Asian clients explore the U.S. market, and more Americans seek homes in Europe, our team is committed to providing a seamless experience,” said Susan de França, President and Chief Executive Officer of Douglas Elliman Development Marketing.
The partnership has grown significantly in the past 15 years, with the two companies referring more than 1,300 clients to one another in 37 different countries and collaborating on a series of research reports, including the annual Wealth Report compendium of deeply reported insights on the world’s influential cohort of ultra-high-net-worth and high-net-worth individuals.
