At Elliman, Success is Built from the Ground Up

March 2020

Douglas Elliman knows how demanding real estate can be—from the complicated tax laws to housing rules and regulations, being an agent is more than just showing homes to prospective clients. One of the ways Elliman sets its agents up for success is through its innovative Agent Training Center, led by Jeffrey Stanton, SVP of Training and Development. Offering a wide variety of learning categories such as new agent orientation, continuing professional development and professional coaching for both new and established agents, these free programs are tailored to address agents’ ongoing needs and requests. “All successful agents have one thing in common, a solid foundation that begins with training. Douglas Elliman and Jeffrey Stanton have found the right recipe for getting their agents off to a strong start and helping them continue to learn and develop throughout their careers.” —Tom Ferry Let’s take a closer look at some of these results-oriented programs. ORIENTATION & NEW AGENT BOOT CAMP Like starting any new job, there are things that new agents must familiarize themselves in order to do their job well at Douglas Elliman. To get new agents started out on the right foot, the Agent Training Center hosts an Orientation program. The five-day Orientation is an introduction to Douglas Elliman departments, tools and programs, including a mandatory compliance session. Beyond Orientation, the Agent Training Center offers a New Agent Boot Camp designed for agents with less than one year of experience. In this three-day intensive boot camp and four-week continued coaching program, new agents are taught what they need to do on a daily, weekly and monthly basis to operate a successful real estate business. Agents leave the program able to implement a business plan, marketing plan and economic plan, as well as with tools to immediately put into practice. PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT & RESTART The Agent Training Center doesn’t just stop at new agents. All agents—those in the first few years of their real estate career to seasoned professionals—can take advantage of the Professional Development opportunities offered.  The center offers a list of 70+ classes, with topics that cover social media, marketing, advertising, pricing a property, transitioning into real estate, branding, lead generation, business planning, negotiation skills, contracts and more. Agents will definitely find something that fits their needs. RESTART has resulted in over $600M in contracts and closed sales for participating agents while they were in the program. In addition, two of the company’s “Rookies of the Year,” Janet McQueeney and Christopher Cortez, participated in the RESTART program. Launched in January 2017, RESTART is a weekly, seven-session course for both new agents (who have completed the New Agent Boot Camp) and established agents utilizing proven sales techniques, sophisticated educational design, psychology and advanced professional learnings. The step-by-step program is offered year-round in New York City and on Long Island. “The intensive program places heavy emphasis on the core values of teamwork and accountability,” says Dr. Jeffrey Stanton who designed the program. And agents are seeing results. “RESTART has been essential as I’ve transitioned from Wall Street to real estate. Jeff Staton is a powerful mentor helping me create a strong support team so I can focus on developing my network and leveraging my relationships to achieve success.” — Lynne Mazin Join Douglas Elliman today.
