‘The Golden Girls’ House Sells for $1 Million Over Ask

by Elliman Editors

August 2020

The home made famous by The Golden Girls   has swiftly sold for roughly $4 million , far above its original $2.999 million asking price. Listing agent Rachelle Rosten of Douglas Elliman California told The Wall Street Journal that the unusually high level of interest in the home, located in the Brentwood section of Los Angeles, caught her by surprise. With news circulating globally, it only lasted a few weeks on the market. “I knew there were a lot of Golden Girls fans in the world but I had no idea there were this many,” Rachelle Rosten told the Journal. After approximately 140 showings in 14 days, there were 20 offers to consider. The home’s exterior was used on the first season of the show to represent the home of characters Blanche, Rose, Dorothy and Sophia at 6151 Richmond Street in Miami (no such actual address exists). Its retro, mid-century interiors were never featured on the show, but only seemed to add to the attraction on the market. The result was a bidding war among 9 people, Rachelle Rosten said.       Read the full Wall Street Journal article here
