What to Do
Though small, the Seaport District is jam-packed with iconic institutions and fun activities that will help you strike the perfect balance between exploring your neighborhood and enjoying your time at home.
Harpoon Brewery
First opened in 1987 on Boston’s waterfront, Harpoon Brewery has become a staple of the neighborhood. Visitors can take a tour of the brewery space and then enjoy some of the brand’s ales in the attached beer hall or outdoor key yard, where they often host seasonal events and concerts.
Boston Children’s Museum
This Boston institution has been transforming the way children learn for over 100 years. Known internationally for their exhibitions and educational programming, the space focuses on culture, science, health, the arts and the environment.
Institute of Contemporary Art
This distinctive building on the Boston waterfront was founded in 1936 as a sister museum to MoMa in New York City. Originally created to be an innovative space for artistic exploration, it now is the premier home of visual arts, performance, video and literature in the entire city. The current building, which opened in 2006, features striking panels of transparent glass, translucent glass and metal to create a dramatic effect—especially when taken in at sunset by the water’s edge.
Where to Eat
A powerhouse in the culinary world, Boston has a nearly unmatched offering of favorite standbys and innovative new openings. The Seaport District, too, has a wide range of eateries that highlight everything from New England’s signature seafood to inventive culinary creations.
Ocean Prime
Founded by famed restauranteur Cameron Mitchell, this new American staple is one of 14 locations around the country. Offering the best of seafood and prime steak, it is a decadent option for upscale dining. A comprehensive cocktail and wine list pairs with their food menus to create an unbeatable food experience.
The Barking Crab
This beloved eatery has become a Boston icon. The casual restaurant has a laidback seafood-shack vibe with amazing views of the marina. The menu is obviously seafood-centric, highlighting the most delicious daily catches from the area. Good for groups big and small, this is a don’t-miss spot.
Yankee Lobster Company
This restaurant-market mash-up is a family operation. The family tradition of fishermen began in Europe in 1898, and has been passed down from generation to generation, culminating in the opening of Yankee Lobster Co. as we know it today in 1989. With classics like lobster rolls, fish sandwiches and stuffed clams, eat your seafood fill at this authentic and locally-owned establishment.
Empire
This Asian fusion restaurant is the first of its kind in the Seaport District. The decor hints at old-world influences from Hong Kong, while the innovative menu combines the best of classic dishes with modern techniques. With everything from sushi to steak, the menu has something for everyone.

The residences in the Seaport are known for their prime view of the harbor as well as their quality accommodations. Enjoy the diverse community offerings like fitness classes, the Harbor Walk, the Farmer’s Market and many more once you adopt this neighborhood as your own.
