Thierry Gillier, the founder of French fashion house Zadig&Voltaire , has listed his recently built compound on the Caribbean island of Saint Barthélemy, or St. Bart’s, for €45 million, approximately $49 million USD.
Douglas Elliman agent Rick Moeser represents the listing alongside Kevin Barrallon and Tracey Kelly of Saint Barth Real Estate.
Known as Manoir Voltaire, the one-acre property features two independent contemporary villas across three levels, spanning over 5,700 square feet in size.
The focal point of Manoir Voltaire is its unique cantilevered roof, which the architect Lorena Gabaldon, who designed the retreat, compared to a wide-brimmed hat . Extending more than six feet from the house, the roof maximizes the indoor-outdoor space and protects residents from the intense Caribbean sun.
The upper villa, which serves as the main residence, includes six bedrooms, each with an en-suite bathroom. A tucked-away gourmet chef’s kitchen is well-equipped with professional-grade appliances. Other features include an elevator, TV lounge, a heated infinity pool, ample outdoor living space, an outdoor barbecue area and covered parking for five cars.
In the lower villa, buyers will find three en-suite bedrooms (including a primary suite with a private outdoor tub), a gourmet kitchen, outdoor lounge and heated infinity pool. Each home has a private entrance, pool and separate parking, while a discreet staircase connects the two homes.
Built with exquisite attention to detail, Manoir Voltaire features top-of-the-line and luxury materials. The home includes a frame made from Bangkirai wood imported from Bali, latticework and shutters created with West African Iroko wood, travertine marble flooring, beautiful cream marble and custom furniture designed by Gabaldon.
Gillier purchased the property in 2015 and built the estate over the following eight years.
