Once through the door, the riad is a peaceful haven carefully thought out by designer and interior architect, Alain Martens. After being surrounded by celebrities and having a prolific life in London and New York, the designer chose to retire to the red city where he was able to express his respect for materials and local craftsmanship. As one of the emblematic figures of art and design in London in the 1970s, he was the first to bring London contemporary European designers including Armani, Cerruti, Chloé, Versace, Montana and Zegna. Among some of his best known achievements were the rooms of the George V in Paris, the banquet hall of the Hyde Park Hotel and the headquarters of Calvin Klein in New York.

After life in the fast lane, Martens decided to devote himself to this riad to make it a haven of elegance, calm and serenity.

The softness of the colours in the property compliment the bright ecru of the walls, extended by the verdigris, clear, cedar ceilings and balustrades.
