DUMBO
This picturesque neighborhood has more to offer than cobblestoned alleys and Instagrammable views of Manhattan. New developments are limited since the majority of DUMBO is landmarked (the earliest structures date back to the 1850s), and most of the industrial warehouses have been converted into upscale condos, refined shops and a wide range of dining options. Two of the city’s institutions are right by the popular waterfront: the vaunted River Café Restaurant and the St. Ann’s Warehouse theater. Main Street Park and a section of Brooklyn Bridge Park extending into DUMBO provide green space and outdoor activities, and the generally restrained car traffic creates an out-of-time atmosphere.
