Neighborhood Guide

HELL'S KITCHEN

The name doesn’t do justice to an energetic neighborhood teeming with new residential developments, many offering incredible views of the Hudson and city environs. But this area, sometimes called Clinton, isn’t a tunnel of towers?there are protected areas of Hell’s Kitchen with charming brownstones and even a hidden garden or two. And it’s all within spitting distance of the Theater District, the city’s “official” Restaurant Row on 46th Street (as well as the area’s unofficial one, spanning multiple blocks of Ninth Avenue), and a short walk to Hudson Yards, Central Park, and a plethora of retail therapy on Fifth Avenue and the mall in the Time Warner building at Columbus Circle.
