PORT WASHINGTON

Residents of Port Washington take great pride in the North Shore village they fondly refer to as “Port.” There’s much to love, from the abundant waterfront dotted with marinas to the eclectic shops and restaurants along Main Street to the spirit of community and volunteerism among residents. Bay Walk Park, a walkway with greenery and sculptures along Shore Road, is perfect for strolling. There are co-ops and senior housing, houseboats and mansions. One-of-a-kind shops include the Dolphin Bookshop & Café, opened in 1946, which is housed in a historic building. Port is also the terminus of the LIRR’s Port Washington line, coveted for its direct, speedy service into Manhattan.
