SEA CLIFF
Sea Cliff is a quirky, unpretentious village overlooking Hempstead Harbor on Nassau County's North Shore. Jewel-toned Victorians with front porches dot the hilly one-square-mile community, which has a small downtown with eclectic shops and restaurants. Residents refer to local parks by their nicknames rather than their actual names. Elm Park, for instance, is known as Spooky Park, while Veteran's Memorial Park, which sits atop a 120-foot bluff overlooking the harbor, is called Hippie Park. Summer concerts are held at the latter and at Sea Cliff Beach, and each October, residents past and present reunite at Sea Cliff Mini Mart, a 50-year-old arts and crafts fair with more than 200 exhibitors.
