Neighborhood Guide

SEA GATE

Originally known as Norton's Point, this 90-acre gated community (there are two manned entrances) was incorporated in 1899 and is bordered by water on three sides. Tucked away at the far end of Coney Island, Sea Gate feels as far as you can get from New York-though the fantastic views of the harbor will remind you immediately where you are. The 8,000 residents have access to a private beach, which is the kind of perk few New Yorkers can boast about. For a true escape, Sea Gate is hard to beat.
