Neighborhood Guide

DIX HILLS

Dix Hills draws people in search of large properties. Many of the lot sizes are an acre or larger in an area that is almost exclusively residential, with mature trees and gentle, rolling hills. Built mostly in the last 60 years, the homes include sprawling colonials, expanded ranches and split-levels. Both the Long Island Expressway and Northern State Parkway cut through Dix Hills, providing convenience. For recreation, there's the 150-acre Dix Hills Park, a Town of Huntington park that includes two indoor ice skating rinks, an Olympic-sized pool and a nine-hole golf course. The Art League of Long Island offers exhibits and classes for adults and kids.
