Making Moves
Breathtaking views draw people in, and vibrant communities make them stay.
Aspen is more than a skier’s paradise. Adventurers and artists find limitless inspiration in the natural beauty of the region. Entrepreneurs and innovators foster relationships and ideas inside tight-knit communities built around shared passions. There are dedicated clubs and organizations for every possible interest.
Still, few things can compete with the exhilaration of carving through the mountainsides of the Rockies on fresh powder with momentum at your back.
While food and fashion are a year-round attraction in the city, taking time to shop the boutiques on Galena Street on a beautifully sunny day or to enjoy a slow food experience at one of Aspen Michelin-recognized restaurants is an absolute must.
Locals also develop a special bond with nature that strengthens with every season. Cool spring temperatures make for exceptional snowshoe-ing, cross-country skiing, and ice fishing while the Aspen Film Festival brings a welcome buzz to the city. As summer sets in, longer days invite hikers and mountain bikers to maximize their time among the Rockies as music and wine festivals become a staple of the scene. Vibrant shades of reds and fiery orange beckon city dwellers to the Roaring Fork River for a calming day of fly fishing or a scenic drive through the Maroon Bells.
Then, as Winter returns, tourists flood back to the region bringing a rush of new energy and connections, many who join in to support Aspen Gay Ski Week (AGSW), a longstanding partner of our own.
During a week in January, more than 5,000 guests flock to the Roaring Fork Valley to support the nation’s oldest annual gay ski week, now in its 42nd year. As a proud sponsor, Douglas Elliman helps raise funds and awareness to support AspenOUT, a non-profit organization that provides grants to local and national organizations as well as scholarships to Valley youth.
Love and inclusion abound as the community opens its arms as new and old friends ski, snowboard, and hike by day and celebrate by night with events like the Top-of-the-Mountain dance party at Aspen Mountain.
